We live in a world where it is so easy to be lazy: where everything is literally at our fingertips. Many argue that we have lost our intellectual ability because we don’t even have to think anymore. I find that writing is our mind’s way of compartmentalizing our own thoughts; it is beyond thinking. We think, we form words, we write. One reason I love writing so much is that it creates a challenge in a world of laziness. By putting words on a page I am forcing myself to think, form, and flow. I find it powerful to read as well, because you are reading other peoples thoughts. I often wonder what it would be like to live in someone else’s brain for a day and sometimes reading someone else’s writing can provide just that. Call me crazy but I think everyone should write. We should write to discover, to play, to laugh, to cry, to face reality or make up our own. The beauty of writing is that you can own it: it is all yours. You have the freedom to think as you will and to form your own creation. Writing is an art that anyone can do and there is something so liberating about that.
